Once again, very good work with the charcoal. (thumbup) The expression is perfect. The nose and mouth part is lighted a little wrong I think. It looks pushed towards the left, while the rest of the face is turned more to the right.

You achieve some lovely textures with charcol...I would never have guesed the medium if you hadn't said.

As Jane pointed out the mouth and nose do seem to be a little off...but for me it's the lack of clarity in the eyes that let this down...gorillas have such soulful, intelligent eyes and so much of their character and charm lies within them.

None the less a comendable drawing in a difficult medium.

Nice texture and spot work. But it is much easier to "see" in the thumbnail than in the full picture, which means that it should be crisper. It's nice and "impressionistic", but it leans too much toward the blotch and leaves too much edge out. The head contour is absent, for instance - instead of showing it clearly you've put a messy texture behind it, so it's impossible to see the head. Only the face kind-of stares from the jumble. I don't see what purpose the texture could serve there - it is distracting and unnecessary. (Perhaps you worked from the photo and this texture is from a bush in the background? You don't need to follow the photo so closely - interpreting is much better than imitating.)
